Absolutely. This is a lone wolf attack. Nothing more, nothing less. Putin didn't raise an eyebrow during his newscast.

It's the price he's paid to get a foothold in the middle east. In the years to come, Syria will be built with arab and russian money. There will be russian army and airforce bases. It is a significant coup for Putin.
And now that he's mates with Trump, what's to stop him encroaching on Syria's neighbours IDC?

ALL of this is because he's very angry that his predecessor buckled under Western expansionism. NATO have brought this on themselves and now they will suffer the slow but certain erosion of their eastern front for years to come.
Georgia, Ukraine, Crimea, Syria, Trump - that'll do nicely thank you very much.
