construction update

Work continues on digging out route for the duel carriageway.

With the crane disappearing for the last couple of days and the rest of the former bus station still a bit of a mess this might be as far as the steelwork goes this side of Christmas.

With the passenger footbridge soon to open it is a shame that despite the builder putting in slotted drains at the entrance the floor slopes in the wrong direction leaving large puddles that all passengers using the stairs will have to cross. The photo was taken a few hours after it had stopped raining and the floor was actually drying out! I find it hard to believe that the airport would sign this off as acceptable.

How the footbridge could have been

With a temporary heating duct installed to dry the painted floor and the air vents covered to keep the heat in this is the finished product. Got to say I am disappointed as the best description is probably utilitarian with both the ceiling and side wall not covered in something pleasing and the infamous opaque plastic windows.

The taxi rank has been moved so the new horseshoe shaped taxi rank can be built. When finished this will sit between the drop off zone and the coach bays
