If construction of a third runway at Heathrow would mean the demolition of 750 homes and an enormously speculative and ruinously expensive 'M25 tunnel' (what a terrorist target that would be
), yet the alternative at Gatwick would not - then there can be no justification for choosing LHR.
A high speed rail link between the 2 airports is needed though.
