After a trip to Copenhagen Airport which handles 26,000,000 passengers and then instantly comparing it to Luton, which is handling 14,000,000, I was just struck by how small Luton felt on my return in comparison. Copenhagen covers 11.8 sq km and has 108 airbridges and remote stands. The linked terminals are truly massive and yet still felt really busy yet it handles less than twice the amount of passengers Luton handles.
It really brought it home to me that Luton is just a minnow in terms of terminal size and its physical size and has done well in squeezing so many passengers through a terminal that is no bigger than one of Copenhagen's piers.
