I think the questions are coming from those weighing up options if employed as a DEFO. The above quote is misleading. CX will not pay for any mortgage, boat, house or otherwise as you no longer get a housing allowance to be spent solely on somewhere to live. You will get an extra HK$14K a month on top of your salary and you can spend it on anything you want. If you are crazy enough to think that is enough to live on a boat in Hong Kong, you are able to use it for that purpose, CX have no say in what you spend it on.
