According to icodesign, new real time passenger information screens have been fitted in arrivals which contains informations such as your location on the airport complex, weather, bus times, traffic updates and train times. It is also set up with LLA new branding so looks quite modern.
They have been in what seems like a couple of months now and are on a bank of monitors just to the left, as you walk in the front door of arrivals.
Going back to the artist impressions, the images have been created with a lack of lighting columns, road signage, fencing around the bus bays and has already been pointed out, one of the covered walkways in one of the photos is missing. Also not a hint of a hot dog stand and other food kiosks, which were included in the plans submitted to the council that were going to line the walls by the entrances. The entrances were going to project out from the terminal with the kiosks in the recesses but now the entrances are flush with at least the centre section of the terminal which does indeed seem to have been built out and from memory by around 17m seems to ring a bell.
One advantage of a lower roof line is that it will offer more weather protection but I am thinking the roof might be freestanding with a gap between its edge and the terminal as it just doesn't seem that wide. Just hope to God they don't cover the canopy with a roof that looks like a circus tent and made from the same material, as that will be the airports signature for a generation.
