We will certainly be commenting on the introduction of the new subject 100KSA.
- First comment is that we enthusiastically embrace the concept.
- Second comment is that the concept as applied is outdated in educational theory by about 20 years as the third term 'Attitude' is very difficult to measure. It is now almost universally acknowledged as KSB, where B stands for Behaviour as an indicator, if you like, of attitude.
- Third comment is that the proposed amendment includes a provision for the KSA module to be completed before the final ATPL ground exam, quite contrary to the enthusiastic and worthy statement earlier in the NPA (page 7) where they say it is an area "which will be holistically integrated into and throughout the entire training syllabus". I think it is a huge mistake to force completion of KSA100 in the groundschool phase, particularly as most integrated candidates won't even have seen an aircraft at this stage, the completion point should be licence issue.
