Respectfully suggest your a lonely voice in your comment about London. The issue for that Cork route is City is a hub for business people in the main. Individuals who want rapid painless access in and out of The City and Canary Wharf. Their Dublin route is rammed on every single flight and could do with more capacity and still be rammed to max loads. There are simply more pax with business interests and needs to commute between Dublin and City as opposed to Cork to City. Dublin and it's IFSC financial district is the economic epicentre for the RoI. Cork just isn't in that space(sorry if that comes across as blunt it's not meant to be)
Actually LCY isn't just a "City/Canary Wharf" airport, and never really was. It has always served a notably wider catchment area, speaking to seatmates they are headed for Kent, North London, Westminster, a substantial area who find it convenient. London is sufficiently large to be a series of separate markets at its separate airports, and LCY's quick processing compared to elsewhere serves them well in overlapping Heathrow's catchment in areas like Westminster. Look at the full car park - those people didn't drive over from Canary Wharf.
