Seriously though, I can only imagine that the poor trainee was doing stuff that we wouldn't attempt to do in our civilian aeroplanes - the definition of a battlefield airlifter I assume as a non raaf type would be an aeroplane that does a lot of tactical stuff which in a big(ish) non fighter type aeroplane might present a challenge, and they do so without a huge level of recency or experience (in comparison to some other pilots who do 7,8,900 hrs a year, year in year out), so he/she has my sympathies, I hope the only thing hurt is their pride and they suffer no untoward consequences as a result of the mishap. There but for the grace of God (or Allah, allan, Buddha, Tom cruise or whoever the big knob scientologist is these days, Brian, Sir Alec Guinness or whoever you personally prefer) go all of us!
