Aircraft parking stands are already fully utilised overnight and at peak times during the day. Without additional aircraft parking capacity I see no way the 18 million pax figure can be achieved. However....

Looking into my crystal ball....I see Monarch are no more, having been swallowed by easyJet. Hangars 127 and 60 are now orange. Hangar 89 has been demolished, replaced by a new drop off/set down area. This has now freed up the existing drop off area which has been replaced by more aircraft parking stands extending to the south apron (wasn't that the original idea circa 2005 anyway? It seems so obvious when looking at aerial views of the airport, see the photo posted yesterday on the History and Nostalgia thread). And yes, only allocate runway slots to private jets outside the busy periods. Problem sorted!
