What some of you have failed to realise is that TOM have (just) set up long-haul shop at STN with their 787 to the two destinations some of you are suggesting they operate from LTN.

It's not going to happen IMHO.
Who is to say what will happen in the years to come. You might well have made the same comment about El-Al yet they switched airports.

Why some people can not comprehend Luton extending it's runway is beyond me. In turn the east side of the airfield has enough area to build 3 multi story car parks accommodating more long term parking than available today and having apron space for a further 20 -28 aircraft stands!
I am assuming all this would happen within the airports existing boundary? If another 28 stands were added then another terminal of a similar size to what Luton has got now would be needed. Where would you put that?

The airport does intend to build another multistory car park by Parkway on land it has bought and then ship passengers to the terminal using the light rail.

You are probably right, the airport will need to expand to the south of runway in the years to come. You however, have one major issue, you are then encroaching into the borders of Hertfordshire,
The border does not follow the airfield. Using the ringed south stands as a reference there is alot of land south of the runway that is part of Luton although there is a missing strip for a southern parallel taxiway.

As we are now seeing if Luton intend to build a light railway to the terminal then anything is now possible.
