But surely you can say that about any hazard facing commercial aviation today. For example, why test for birdstrike, given that all the variables that you highlighted for drones are just as applicable for birds (save for the deliberate collision perhaps, though not sure it will make much a difference to the ultimate outcome whether the object
meant to hit the aircraft or not)?
