Weekly redevelopment update

The landside chapel closed this week.

The first floor extension to the old terminal that was removed last week leaving its original balcony received steel beams on Tuesday. This balcony will be used for external plant.

Work has started on the steelwork of the second core. As can be seen it is taller than the first core as it will butt up to the multistory car park. Eventually a 50m passenger bridge will link the two cores with a further 100m bridge being added to a third core by the bus station.

Work has started on entry and exit barriers to the short term car park. The entry barriers are by the ring road by Taxiway Delta while the exit route has provision to be connected to the temporary exit route suggesting that the entrance and exits could soon be moved.

The old windows were removed from the check-in area this week and are being replaced by new windows and a couple of sets of fire escape doors.

Work has finally started on the new pier as work gets underway to remove fencing and a narrow strip of service road. Not sure yet whether site access will be via this point or at the far end by Delta which is being used at the moment.

By what will become the multistory car park the airside fences have been moved to maximize the CTA. A careful examination of the photo will show both the old and new fences in place. I guess every little help!
