Don't think you can compare the higher wages of a second tier American airline to the lower wages of Cathay.
If 52 pilots had been sacked at _any_ American airline, they certainly wouldn't be doing training and accepting upgrades. In fact, any place I've ever worked, they wouldn't turn a wheel...
It's a different ballgame.
