Weekly redevelopment update

The kiosks have been relocated to their temporary new home plus a section of walkway has opened which will be used as a temporary coach shelter. This is apparently the finished article and looks nothing like the stylish artists impression that the airport produced. To be honest it looks a little basic to say the least as the artists impression had a walkway that matched the canopy. Also the concrete foundations, which are all odd sizes, are not hidden by a layer of tarmac so it looks a complete mess but then probably only I would spot that.

Work has started outside on the forecourt of what will be one of the new terminal entrances.

Work has also started on the outer face of the first core while steelwork for the second core is now arriving on site. The first core will need concrete lift shafts at some point as well as staircases. Above the workmen can be seen the hole for the covered passenger bridge.

The new temporary exit opened on Thursday allowing the contractors building the multistory car park to access the middle section. As seen in the above photo cars now leave the drop off zone via a section of the short term car park.

Several years ago the old terminal had an extension built on the balcony, that extension was removed this week.
