It's a company airport, run by BAe Systems - there's also virtually nothing there but the submarine works and the town of Barrow, which is basically a company town (although I'm told it has a single good hotel).

Given that, I think that the only way you're going to get a useful answer is to contact them directly.

Flight ops are on +44 1229 471407, I'd suggest just phoning and asking. But I think that you're likely to find that it's "company business only", which is fairly normal with BAeS airports.

Looks like a lovely quiet spot whenever I've flown over it en-route north, but I've never stopped.

Best alternate is probably Blackpool.
