Weekly redevelopment update

As suspected last week the deep hole opposite the Holiday Inn Express is for a modular drainage system that will sit under or part under the dual carriageway.

The machine drilling deep foundations for the multistory car park has moved to the former easyjet HQ site.

As can be seen by the car on the left, the exit route still passes through the middle of what will be the multi story car park. The photo shows the present end of what will be the exit route from the short term car park on the right and on the left the exit route for the new ring road. Just beyond this point the road will continue to open out for the pay barriers but as yet work has not started on this route.

With another large section of the short term car park now closed Priority Parking have left the first part of the short term car park to be finished and are now parking cars in the mid term car park. As can be seen in this photo taken on Tuesday the car park had just opened to the public and is now full.

The bus station, which is without weather protection, is about to get a small section of roof. I don't know if this is a temporary bus shelter or a section of the walkway. The artists impression of the area shows a walkway with a T shaped roof held in place by central pillars. This design has the supports on the edges. As far as I can tell it is being installed in the position of the walkway so maybe this is it as it heads for what will be the new departures entrance.

Holes are now appearing not only where the terminal infill is going but much further out. To the left of the old arrivals building a workman's lift can be seen for getting materials for the shops to site. Floor tiles have recently been taken to that area.

Over the last 2 nights the road surface has been raised to the height of the 4 additional bus bays which remains fenced off. The cones mark the exit route for the station shuttle buses.
