We have already discussed in great detail about the application but the 2.2km route with twin tracks is additional information but we did already work out that the line would run from the Kimpton Road side of the line.

As I said a couple of weeks ago the Docklands Light Railway has the steepest gradient in the country at 5.88% and that the terminal is 42m above the railway line. With this new information 2200m + 5.88% means a light railway could gain height of 129m in that distance but 42m means the gradient is only 2%.

Going back to the air bridge saga we have reports of no bridges, one bridge, the mention of air bridges on a service tender and the hint from the airport to watch this space when a question was asked. Certainly no planning applications have gone in but do you need a planning application for a movable object?

The airport has mentioned in the past about it being viewed as a Cinderella airport and a lack of bridges is not going to help dispel that view.

Cost cutting is a culture that is firmly ingrained in the psyche of the management, which might explain why the airport is doing so well but for example the way the extension to the mid term car park has been left with its gravel parking spaces does make me wonder where the airport is trying to position itself in the minds of the public.
