Worked well for Air France and Air Asia... and others!
Well both aircraft were perfectly flyable after the initial failure (once due icing, the other due CB pulling that was not allowed). I would say that the redundancy worked perfectly.
What Airbus didn't take into account was the FO pulling full backstick at altitude and riding the stall to the ground like a big wave surfer. As that's not a normal flight manoeuvre, I wouldn't call it Airbus's fault.
