Is it me or would the multi storey car park be much bigger than at presently planned?
The multistory car park being built is slightly longer and wider than Easyjet's hangar 89. The council plan does indeed show a car park on a bigger footprint but that would not necessary mean more parking spaces than the car park being built if it also contained the drop off area. Also the one being built is having external circulation ramps for cars to get to each floor thus maximizing parking space. The car park is also being built to allow cars and 4x4's to grow in size in future years.

The car park will be 15.7m tall with ground, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and roof parking.
It will be 150m long x 75m wide with a 100m x 20m link bridge towards the terminal and a 50m x 15m link bridge to the short term car park.

The MS car park will have 1,565 spaces and the short term car park will have an additional 1,264 making a total 2,829 spaces in the CTA. It would be those 1,264 spaces that would be lost if stands were built on the short term car park and yet another road layout would have to be built to remove the ring road.
By comparison Parkway MS car park has 816 spaces.
