Weekly Redevelopment Update

It might be a while before a scene like below is seen again at the airport after yesterday’s test. Not only are the spacing between most of the bays too narrow for wheelchair users but the coach companies didn’t seem too impressed with the layout or the size of the maneuvering area. For the test all the coaches had a second person assisting at the rear of the coaches as they reversed out and tried different bays.

The first two bays to be constructed inside the old bus station were laid out this week with kerbing and despite yesterday’s test were filled with concrete today. A surveyor was on site this morning measuring the four corners of each existing bay. Not all the bays can be constructed yet as site access to the rear of the new bus station is needed for the terminal construction work.

We will wait and see what the outcome will be and whether all or some of the bays will be moved or modified.

This photo was also taken yesterday.

The shuttle bus stop which is moving to the old terminal side is now under construction and is the only bus stop that isn't a nose in bay.

The old staff car park which will become part of the short term car park has received its top layer of tarmac as has most of the so far built ring road.

The ring road together with the entrance to the short term car park with new railings and new airside fencing. Taxiway Delta is on the other side of the fence.

Signature has today had the first of its steel work erected for its new FBO.
