Permit me to state the answer (which you all secretly know [without letting on]) to the question you are all posing.
With a population of around 2.7 million in the North East and a very suitable airport 30+ miles to the North there is no realistic and viable reason for having a second airport.
You might not like Peel's plans but can you really argue with their logic? How they go about those plans is a different matter.
