Weekly redevelopment update

All of Signature's hangar 102 plus its brick ramp services building has gone. Work has just started to remove the internal dividing wall between that hangar and hangar 63

Saturday saw Priority Parking move to their temporary home at the modified former drop off zone. This was followed by the taxi rank on Monday.

Tuesday saw the first part of the new security hall open using a temporary entrance in the main terminal. Despite this first phase having no more lanes than the old first floor setup the airport claims that with its new technology queues should be reduced. Despite being a busy Friday afternoon no queuing were seen.

The former easyjet HQ/ spectators building site, which will be the partial site of a new multi story car park has gained an entry and exit lane including a new barrier. This will allow the site to be used as a temporary car park but for whom is a mystery at the moment.

The pedestrian walkway from the temporary drop off area that overlooks the eastern apron is being doubled in width. Again the curbing going in is temporary as the final width of this paved area will be a lot wider when the bus station is complete.

So far all the work that has taken place in the CTA over the last couple of months has been for temporary use to create space. With some of the drive in bus bays marked up with spray paint the first part of the CTA redevelopment is about to begin.
