Japan Air Lines (
JAL) have had a black uniform for cabin crew (including a brown apron) for decades - as have conventional waitstaff (prior to the era of gender neutrality - waiters and waitresses) traditionally worn "black and whites", both colours being "timeless".
However I'm sure that Mr Morrissey presented more than just the collection shown here, and that the final choice was an "executive" decision.
There was undoubtedly a full (well paid)
committee formed to deliberate over such a decisive marketing ploy..."The QANTAS Committe for Uniforms", whose final recommendation was presented to upper level management prior to this Press Release!!
Now how many pax actually change airlines because they are tired of looking at the old ones...in fact, WHO really notices?? Or cares?
But why NOT squander
a few million bucks, when the bottom line dictates that staff retrenchments are in order!!
Perhaps the choice of black subconciously broadcasts QANTAS management's plans for mainline QANTAS....
RIP.....as
Jet Connect and
Australian nibble away at the edges of what was once an
ALL QANTAS cake.
Will ANYONE
really notice?? (Except those getting the kickbacks
)
