I hope you guys pursuing the dream get lucky like we did as well. Sometimes that's what it comes down to. A smidgen of luck. No license no talk. After that it's timing and luck and who you know (if you know). It's a big risk for sure! I never said it wasn't and for some the dream didn't turn out the way they wanted.
I've just night stopped in Cairns and scuba dived the Great Barrier Reef during my stay. I can cross that off my bucket list. I'm enjoying my job and my life and my family is happy because of that also. Life is great (except for a couple of annoying colleagues) but like my wife pointed out we're only stuck with them for a day, not like office colleagues
