Car Parking
I totally agree with the lack of inspiration when it comes to car parking.....
Years ago, I was involved with a project tasked with additional flow rate, aprons and car parking at LTN, whenever there was mention of a multi-storey car park it was slung out at the 1st mention of it and cost always came into it.
I did come up with one proposal, and it went hand in hand with a full length taxiway. My idea was to dig down and create a multi-storey, using the earth to infill the land for the taxiway to the end of 26. There would have been hardly any blot on the landscape, but no, too expensive. Their faces were an absolute picture!!
I wonder though, why have they never invested in the make shift 2 level car parks you see dotted around at train stations these days? Even just for the summer periods
