You are wrong! Continental have never been involved with Newcastle (although the route is similar in respect of timings and routings of other former Continental routes out of UK & European airports on similar equipment. Continental was well merged into the United Airlines before their involvement with Newcastle. It may well have been an opportunity to expand their network before merging, and may well have been approached at the time of AA s failed start, but the current venture is solely United post merger.
