I do respectfully think there are some issues with capacity with DXB judging from trips through there which for me started in the early 1980,s when I was involved in the first "new" terminals as they then were. You are correct in that DXB has grown to meet demand, and still does so. However as a regular through there (20-30 P/A) one does spend quite a time now in various holding patterns as the various waves arrive, as confirmed by EK pilots I know, as well as sometimes being parked seemingly halfway to Muscat, or in down town depending on where you have arrived from, with a long bus journey to the terminal. Not too bad in winter but not so in summer, or during one of the flash floods that your abode occasionally has ! I suspect depending on land prices, and DXB economy, you will see DXB given over to EK with everyone else moved off down the road. But as everything out there, things do change, sometimes quite quickly with know apparent reason !
