Grrr

The boss of all-business class airline La Compagnie has hinted that a second aircraft is likely to be based in London following the successful start to the new route.

The carrier launched the London – New York Service, flying out of Luton airport, in April with return flights for two starting at £1007.

Chief executive Frantz Yvelin told TTG: “On the London route all I can tell you is that we are right now standing between 50 and 60% [load factors]. Just to make a comparison from where we’re coming from, it’s an excellent start much better than the Parisian one.”

Yvelin admitted that the launch had not been without its problems and that a second aircraft had had to be chartered for a couple of days.

“Now we are absolutely normal. We are leaving on time arriving on time and everything is working fine,” he said.

Yvelin would not be drawn on whether or not he was planning to open up a third route, saying that it was “too early” to announce a decision.

“We are working on two different scenarios. The first one would be to increase either one route or the other in terms of frequencies the second one would be… to open another one.”

He added: “All I can say whatever it would be with number three, number four, number five, number six aeroplane, we will not stay with one aeroplane out of London that’s the most certain [thing].

La Compagnie, is following in the footsteps of four similar carriers, none of which exist anymore. Maxjet, Silverjet and Eos all went bust while L’Avion, Yvelin’s previous airline, was sold to British Airways for £54m.
