Can't help but think the airport redevelopment work should have been started two years ago so some of the benefits would now be coming on stream to cope with the extra numbers.
All the work so far carried out and being undertaken now is still the enabling work in preparation for the redevelopment work, which not only hasn't started yet but there is still no sign of it starting yet. The redevelopment work was supposed to start in the first quarter with all the pre work carried out last year. We are now approaching the start of the third quarter.
At some point around a third of the ground floor will have to be closed off which will mean no catering or bars landside apart from outside the terminal and in the rough temporary arrivals area. If the old arrivals area, which was closed last week is included then that will bring the figure up to around 45%. These facilities won't be replaced until the terminal extension is built and that won't happen until the bus station is moved and that won't happen until the road layout is moved.
At some point the airport is going to have to put up the full signs so I would think that growth figures over the next 2 or 3 years will be flat.
