Basically yes you are right. I have just had a 10 minute look at the new terminal layout. 18 lanes of passenger screening are going in that will extend from the existing arrivals hall all the way across into the main terminal which will mean the removal of the existing landside cafes, Burger King and bar.
The new arrivals hall will be in the terminal extension when it is built. I also read the most if not all of the existing baggage hall will be knocked down and re-built.
All the pre-work so far carried including tree removal and the knocking down of the old FBO by the south apron was meant to have happened before Christmas so with no sign yet of the start of the phase 1 CTA road build the timetable is already 6 months behind schedule.
