Grrr Logbook error Adivice needed

Hi There

I have just passed 1000 hours, this has coincided nicely with coming to the end of my first log book.

Much to my frustration upon adding up all the columns there is an error of 40 hours when compared to my total time. I thought i had been exceptionally diligent in adding up my times accurately it seems somewhere along the way some errors all be it small have crept in and have cumulatively caused a mismatch.

I'd rather not recalculate every page of the book so would it be best to simply write this time off at the start of the new logbook? How diligent are the CAA in checking hours when it comes to the eventual award of my ATPL or are they really looking at things like PICUS being signed off?

Perhaps I'm being too honest, however having worked so hard to get here the last thing i want to be accused of is being a pencil pilot.

Any help would be much appreciated
