Hello,
NutherA2 ... I find it endlessly fascination how one thread stirs up memories of the past, and brings forth so many interesting little facts of those days of yore!
- I arrived at Tengah in Oct 67 just after 64 disbanded. All the spare Javelins were then parked across the runway in F Dispersal [the one in front of the Officers Mess]. As the remaining months of the Javelin's existence with 60 wore on, there was the occasional movement of aircraft across the runway, as 60 swapped airframes with a 'better one' from the 'spares collection'. I suspect any remaining 64 Sqn markings were quickly over-painted with the black and silver stripes of 60

- OC 60 at the time was Wg Cdr Mike Miller ... 'his' aircraft letter actually displayed his full initials. MHM
On the subject of cockpit heat stress, Flying Orders required the Canberras to be airborne within 10 minutes of the crew getting on board, leading to some interesting taxying priorities for the Local Controller.
