While you may be right that there may very few airlines left in 5 years, this worrying trend seems most likely to continue, though I'd say there's very much a case for a regional airline and Flybe would be the natural example.
So long as Delta are in the picture Virgin will remain a key player on the Atlantic at least, and the model that Jet2 has with the diversification of holiday package and freight flying should secure it's future...
