but I wondered if there would be a more authoritative source that would identify the actual site and how I would access it?
Bear in mind that in the case of a mid-air collision, as this was, "the site" could be considered as either the location where the collision took place or the places where the two aircraft (separately) impacted the ground.

Having said that, the mid-air was probably at a relatively low altitude, as reportedly Huijer was killed after bailing out too close to the ground. Smith, on the other hand, died in his burning Hellcat.
