LeeBakerStreet, I too have often thought that a longer runway should be on Luton's wish list. In reality though, would an 8,000 ft runway make that much difference?
The airports core operations will continue to be European based routes with A319/A320/B737 types which operate perfectly well within the current runways constraints. I just wonder if the cost and upheavel in extending the runway to 8,000 ft would be justified and see other carriers with bigger jets coming in? I'm just not sure anymore what those routes/airlines might be?
