35,000?? Have you got a source for this because I'm pretty certain this would be plastered all over the news if that number of people were losing their jobs.

Bit of a personal grumble, but all this chat about the blip in the oil price is affa dull and only very loosely connected to the topic.
It was in the papers yesterday. The Press & Journal have picked up on it today:
Report predicts loss of up to 35,000 oil and gas jobs over next five years

The UK oil and gas industry will shed up to 35,000 jobs over the next five years as major firms cut spending plans in the North Sea, a report predicts.

But the industry will need to take on as many as 12,000 new entrants up to 2019. These will make up for those retiring, as well as to fill jobs in areas such as enhanced oil recovery and shale gas fracking.

While discussion of the current oil price may be slightly off topic, the fortunes of Aberdeen and therefore the airport are heavily tied to the state of the oil industry. If 35,000 jobs are to be cut, then so too will the staff travel budgets. Therefore we are unlikely to see much growth or new investment at the airport while the oil industry is cutting back.
