I can remember the major growth spurt Luton put on as the new terminal was being built. The old terminal was meant to have a capacity of 3 million passengers while the new terminal was meant to have a capacity of 5 million passengers. I think that this 5 million claimed capacity was to smooth its passage through the planning stage is it was passed as soon as the new terminal opened.
Luton is looking at maybe 12 million passengers for next year keeping it as AENA's 5th busiest airport ahead of airports like Gran Canaria and Alicante.
AENA has reported the total revenue for Luton was £122.3 million for 2013.
