What ABZ (and every other airport) needs is PROFITABLE flights
Just how many poeple are there in the catchment area? how often do they fly on their holidays?? what is the euro- business demand to places other than Oslo, Stavanger, Paris & Amsterdam???? Could ABZ be able to support 2 -3 times a week Dubai service (NCL having a daily one)????
I suspect the issue is actually the number of people - 220,00 in Aberdeen + 248,000 in Aberdenshire + 87,000 in Moray + 100,000 in Angus but half of those are closer to EDI so lets say 650,000 population = approx 300,000 households
Grampian had (2011) 325,00 foreign visitors (all causes) but not sure how many came by air
N E England has a population of 2.5 million - that's maybe why they can support a Dubai connection from NCL
