If I may put across my view on your situation. I am in Cathay as well and I have many friends working for the low cost airlines and I would suggest you stay where you are. The money at Cathay is better than the low cost and Cathay won't work you as hard as the likes of Easy etc.
If it's because of home sickess than why don't you apply for a europe basing. After the sars is over(very soon) they will be chances for those basings again.
At the end of the day it's down to you, but remember, the grass isn't all ways greener.
