The "milk and honey" is nothing but words, and if the outcome is NO, the Scottish issue will be quickly ignored. As for being "shown to be a liar" he's a politician: it goes with the job. What's he got to lose this side of the border? Virtually no-one here votes for his party anyway.
This is one of several reasons why the outcome is balanced on a knife edge.
