Even the larger embraer will be limited with the right(wrong?) combination of Weight, Temperature and runway state as would any manufacturers aircraft at FLR.
AFAIK Flybe pay for the whole runway length, which they often use. It's also a good investment in case they need to use all of it, even if they don't plan to. There's also the inconvenience of a large granite obstruction at the far end of rwy 05 to consider in the event that some of the engines the manufacturer fitted elect not to operate when required.
Seats are definitely a plus
