Giles -
An interesting document. Headline is an increase in pax capacity of 7.9% year-on-year, but the comparison is between flights carried out last year (including one-off charters) and flights planned this year.
So the increase in passenger numbers will probably be around the 8 - 9% mark, giving a 2014 total of 10.475 million, an all-time record beating the previous high of 10,180,734 in 2008.
Largest capacity increases are from Monarch (+181,747 +34%) and Wizzair (+469,440 +25%) with EZY adding 128,709 + 3.8%.
Top destinations by seat capacity are:
Budapest
Palma
Amsterdam
Bucharest
Tel Aviv
Dublin
Malaga
Warsaw
Glasgow
Edinburgh
Main operators by proportion of seat capacity are
EasyJet 41.3%
Wizzair 28.2%
Ryanair 13.5%
Monarch 8.6%
Thomson 4.6%
By contrast, Ryanair provides over 77% of Stansted's seat capacity!
