1.2 miles actually but it doesn't seem to put people off but I take your point and agree with most of your comments.
Stansted and Gatwick on the other hand, being well designed and well run airports do have their own rail station

Only one of Gatwick's terminals has its own railway station. For convenience I think Southend probably comes out tops.
Will it operate on Sundays?
Can't see why not.
I was up the airport today before the first morning departure and apart from one cargo stand being empty plus one on the south stands the airport was full.
There was another line up across the bridge as 08 was in use today. These photos were taken just after 7:15am
I can still remember the lean times!
