And let's not look at the doctor, dentist, chemist, politician, plumber, bank manager, financial planner, fund manager etc, etc for comparison!...there is none!
It helps when the industry body is the union/regulator/arbitrator as is the case with Doctors and Lawyers.

Those professions you mention are under pressure from re regulation with everybody out to get them.

How much do you do reckon Woolies want to pay a chemist?

What kind of labour cost savings would a nurse practitioner bring?

Have a look at the number of law schools the universities are starting. Before people are even graduating law degrees are being called the 'the new Arts degree'

The hypothetical removal of seniority would lead to a wholesale tanking of airline salaries and those in GA or Regionals woul be there for 15+ years if they can't/don't want to move overseas.

At the end of the day you only get paid what you negotiate. At the moment we have the ridiculous situation of where Qantas pilots are allegedly over paid but can go overseas and get a net payrise!!
