Ryanair used to fly to Torp from Summer to 08 until the end of summer 2009.
Low fares with low loads (other than July and August) before it was pulled and no further explanation needed really - see below.
CAA Figures
SEPT 2008 2397 pax, average per flight 92 - 49% load factor
OCT 2008 2542 pax, average per flight 106 - 56%
NOV 2008 2457 pax , average per flight 95 - 50%
APR 2009 2890 pax, average per flight 116 - 61%
May 2009 2237 pax, average per flight 90 - 48%
Duo also operated it in winter 2003/4 (via Newcastle?)
CAA figures
NOV 183 pax, average 6 per flight, 12% based on a 48 seat CRJ
DEC 377 pax, average 13 per flight 28%
JAN 309 pax, average 8 per flight, 16%
FEB 524 pax, average 14 per flight, 29%
MAR 622 pax average 16 per flight , 32%
APR 447 pax, average 11 per flight, 24%
Not a great record and some would say flybe have their work cut out on this one but times have changed and I am sure they have researched it well.
I will post the April load factors on the BHX thread later and it indicates that the new routes are getting bottoms on seats but if they all paid the same fare as I did to Florence (even less when I got my £60 for been late) then yields might have been soft to start with.
