Bonvol, by definition the F/O would never be in command of the aircraft. He or she may be manipulating the controls or more likely manipulating the FMS/AP. The person in command of the flight may be elsewhere.
Look at the marine equivalent. Look what has happened to the crews on merchant ships. The cheapest crews from third world countries, what makes anyone think aviation cannot go the same way?
