MAG has to tread a fine line between promoting a new route yet not doing so at the expense of an existing customer
Could not agree more Skip but as I also suggested why then salivate over Hong Kong ? Is that not a prime example of something you suggest the airport might be wise to avoid ?
My goodness we even have a China forum !
Punters are clearly getting there NOW via MEBs, BA etc etc so I must be missing something.
It's a commercial market, airlines are not going to say we are not flying from there simply because the airport announces a new route, they might if the loads were down "eventually" but as evidenced this week by one MEB, EITHAD they have increased since the Cathay announcement with strong bookings.
I fail to see why the marketing/emphasis is disproportionate ?
There seems to be a mindset that the pax throughput is finite and can only be shared by a limited number of airlines, I disagree !
What about critical mass ? .....more airlines, more routes, more connectivity, more passengers !
