FYI, a yr 1 Captain on HKPA at CX has the equivalent take-home pay of an American Pilot with a gross rate of $279 per hour, using 25% tax for the American, and 15% for the HKer. That's on 84 hours work.
This is excluding 13th month/bonuses/profit shares/retirement contributions etc.
I wonder how that compares to where the average 12 yr captain will be at the US majors. He won't be on a 777, that's for damn certain. Probably on a 757/767 at the very best (given the retirement bulge) at around $200 part hour at the legacies, or at SWA $150 per hour as an FO.
Then again, it's by no means certain that the CX pilot will be a captain at 12 years, either. If you're not a Captain at 12 years, you'll realistically be at around the SFO4 point, having done 3 years as an SO, and one at JFO. That brings the equivalent American pay to 217 per hour.
If you joined CX as an FO, and are stuck at the top of the SFO scale at 12 years, the equivalent American pay is $236 per hour. This is using HKPA income, which obviously doesn't apply to DEFOs.
Interestingly, At the very top of the CX HKPA Captain scale, that equivalent American figure becomes $405 per hour.
