I concur. If you can wait until OSX v10.3.x then wait. I have been using Macs since the very first one became available in 1985. I still have the 128k Mac.
I waited for a long time before I upgraded to OSX on an older G4. It was v 10.0 and I had to revert back to OS v9 as it was so unstable and there was only limited support at the time. I went permenantly to OSX v10.1.5 when I got one of the newer Mac G4s and have never looked back. Recently upgraded to OSX v10.2.4 and it was worth it.
It is a lifestyle change though going from OS9 to OSX. At first you may find it uncomfortable but one you get used to it and start using the newer applications written specifically for it you won't look back. It's a powerful OS which sits on top of the very reliable Unix unlike Windoze which still sits on top of DrOSS!
